Genesis Chapter 7

Note on Repeated Witnesses
Certain passages (especially Matthew 24:37–39 and Surah Hud 11:40 and following) appear more than once in this chapter. This is intentional. The flood narrative is itself repetitive in its description of the rising waters, the entry into the ark, and the destruction of all flesh. Repeating the clearest Gospel and Quranic witnesses allows the disciple to see the same event from multiple angles and to remember that the days of Noah are a lasting pattern of both judgment and preservation.

How to Read This Chapter

The Power remains front and center. Chapter-level notes gather the larger patterns so the individual verses stay clean and focused on the text and the numbers.

The number seven appears prominently in this section. Surah Hud and related passages remain the primary Quranic witness for the loading of the ark and the flood.

Genesis 7:1
Then YHVH said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.”

English:
For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away…

Surah Hud 11:40
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا وَفَارَ التَّنُّورُ قُلْنَا احْمِلْ فِيهَا مِن كُلٍّ زَوْجَيْنِ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَهْلَكَ إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَيْهِ الْقَوْلُ وَمَنْ آمَنَ ۚ وَمَا آمَنَ مَعَهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ

English:
[So it was], until when Our command came and the oven overflowed, We said, “Load upon it of each [creature] two mates and your family, except those about whom the word has preceded, and [include] whoever has believed.” But none had believed with him, except a few.

وَقَالَ ارْكَبُوا فِيهَا بِسْمِ اللَّهِ مَجْرَاهَا وَمُرْسَاهَا ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
وَهِيَ تَجْرِي بِهِمْ فِي مَوْجٍ كَالْجِبَالِ وَنَادَىٰ نُوحٌ ابْنَهُ وَكَانَ فِي مَعْزِلٍ يَا بُنَيَّ ارْكَب مَّعَنَا وَلَا تَكُن مَّعَ الْكَافِرِينَ

English:
And [Noah] said, “Embark therein; in the name of Allah is its course and its anchorage. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful.” And it sailed with them through waves like mountains, and Noah called to his son who was apart [from them], “O my son, come aboard with us and do not be with the disbelievers.”

English:
[But] he said, “I will take refuge on a mountain to protect me from the water.” [Noah] said, “There is no protector today from the decree of Allah, except for whom He gives mercy.” And the waves came between them, and he was among the drowned.
And it was said, “O earth, swallow your water, and O sky, withhold [your rain].” And the water subsided, and the matter was accomplished, and it [i.e., the ship] came to rest on [Mount] Judi. And it was said, “Away with the wrongdoing people.”
